Peter J. Day, 69, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away at 1:50 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at his home. Pete was born in Evansville, Indiana, June 9, 1948, the son of the late Roy M. and Ruth M. (Hemmer) Day. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Pete married his sweetheart, Becky Judd and they raised two loving sons. A crane operator for Alcoa, Pete retired after having worked there for 43 years. He was a member of the American Legion Kapperman Post #44 and United Steelworkers Local 104 and enjoyed taking care of his furry friends, Lady and the Tramp. Pete is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, two sons, one brother, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, April 30, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel- A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5300 Washington Avenue with Dr. Dennis Frey, Reverend Morgan Flagler, and Reverend Tim Judd officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post #44 will render full military rites. Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel and again Monday from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Baptist Church, 7564 IN-66, Newburgh, In 47630. Condolences may be made to the family online at Boone funeral home.net
