Anna and her husband Harry both died of pneumonia as a result of influenza, during the second part of the 1918 influenza epidemic. Family lore states that "died of a broken heart". Anna and Harry had three children, who were adopted by extended family members and were able to keep in contact throughout their lives:

Hilda Fryling 1916-1982

After their death from influenza during the Flu Epidemic, Elizabeth, who later legally changed her name to Hilda, was taken in by Elizabeth Eva Reed, known as "Auntie"with Elizabeth later legally changed her name to Hilda. Auntie was unable to take all three siblings and Reed was sent to live with Bert and Ella Hann who adopted him. John Robert (who preferred to be called Robert) went to Charles and Nellie Fryling, who were unable to take care of him, and he was adopted by Auntie in 1919.
