Bart Elmer Roberts, 67, of Rexburg, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 9, 2018, of natural causes.



Bart was born in Rexburg, Idaho on February 25, 1951, to Elmer and Verla Roberts. He graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1969.

He married the love of his life and high school sweet heart, Alice Chantrill, on September 3, 1969. They raised their family in Newdale on the family farm for 23 years. Then moved to just outside of Rexburg.



Bart was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings including: High Priest Group Leader, Bishop, Counselor, Sunday School President, and Teacher. He particularly loved working in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples along with Alice. Music was always a part of his life he sang with many groups and choirs. He was asked often to sing in church and at funerals using his talent to comfort others.



Bart loved sports especially baseball and basketball, he played throughout his High School Years. He coached many of his kids teams and had an amazing ability to develop relationships with kids that lasted a lifetime.



Playing and traveling together as a family was always important to him. As the family grew older golfing and water skiing became the favorite activities. Particularly the yearly family houseboat trip to Lake Mead, where Bart was Captain of the boat.



Bart had a loving and playful personality that drew many people to him. His children and grand children loved being around him no matter what activity was going on. His presence will be missed.



Bart is survived by his wife Alice; their children Shuree (Bret) Anderson, Danielle (Darren) Jacobs, Eraleigh (Tyler) White, Brian (Heather) Roberts, Andrew Roberts; 18 grandchildren and 2 great grand children; Siblings Neil (Belva) Roberts, Verlynn Brink, Brad(Peggy) Roberts, Randy(Ramona) Roberts.



He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Verla Roberts; his father and mother-in-law, Leigh and Erna Chantrill ; and a sister-in-law Kim Chantrill.



Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, August 15,2018 at the Burton 2nd Ward Chapel, 3958 West 2000 South, with Bishop Chris Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 -7:00pm Tuesday, August 14, at Flamm Funeral Home, located at 61 N. First E., in Rexburg and Wednesday before the funeral from 11:00 - 11:45 at the Burton church.

Interment will be at the Sugar City Cemetery.
