He was born on July 14, 1927, in Wythe County, Va., to the late James Burnett Kegley, Sr., and Emma Kate Kincer Kegley. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Kate Chapman Kegley, and is survived by his sister, Emily Cox (Jack Cox) of Disputanta, Va.; two daughters, Anne Kegley of San Diego, Cali. and Susan Kegley (Geoff Marcy) of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and two stepdaughters, Ellen Ward (David Ward) of North Myrtle Beach and Karen Rushing (Don Rushing). He has four grandsons; Benjamin Van Wormer of Alexandria, Va., Nathan Van Wormer of San Diego, Calif., James Santos of El Cajon, Calif., and Bradley Warren of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
