Marcia Louise Stevens, 86, of Chico, CA, died August 8, 2018 with family members and friends by her side. She was born to George William and Ruth Helen Louise Warner on May 17, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI. Marcia graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis, WI in 1949, then attended Carroll College in Waukesha, WI and the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. She married the late H. Ronald Stevens in September 1952 in Eugene, OR; they moved to Yreka, CA in 1959 and raised their family in northern California for 20 years before divorcing in 1981.

Marcia resided in Chico since July 1972. During that time, she held various jobs as a receptionist, secretary, and an Office Manager at Ely Roofing before retiring in 2000. She was an avid reader, bowler, crossword puzzler and knitter. During her parenting years, she was a regular league and tournament bowler; she loved solving the daily paper crossword puzzle throughout her entire adult life; and during her last 20 years, she knitted close to 500 children’s blankets that she donated to the local fire and police departments. Her favorite quote was, “If you don’t have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over again?”

Marcia is survived by her younger brother, John Warner of Thornton, CO; two children, Craig Stevens of Chico, CA and Gary Stevens of Stanley, NC; and two grandchildren.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Butte Home Health & Hospice of Chico, CA, or Friends of the Library in Yreka, CA. The family will hold a private memorial service for Marcia at a later time.
