Larry proudly served in the United States Navy for ten years and the United States Air Force retiring after thirteen years while stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base. He retired as Master Sergeant after twenty-three years of dedicated service to his country. He worked within the special weapons lab and specialized in air born laser design. His service took Larry and Marjorie all over the world and to Okinawa, Japan for several years. In his civilian life, Larry worked as a skilled carpenter throughout Texas settling in Comanche County. He enjoyed traveling and collecting things. Larry was a devoted family man. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy Boyd and wife, Sherry, and Thomas Boyd and wife, DeAnna; daughters, Tami Chadwell and husband, Walter; and Tina Hinman and husband, Chris; brother, Gary Boyd; sister, Carole Gallagher; grandchildren, Steven Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Jennifer Dodson, Tommy Feldschneider, Daniel Chadwell, Stephanie Henning, Blake Anderson, Brent Anderson, Cody Anderson, Cassie Chase, Kamille Talk, Damon Boyd and Samantha Boyd; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; and his parents, Leland and Carmen Boyd.
Graveside memorial services, with Military Honors, will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in Downing Cemetery with Brother Ray Seckinger officiating.
