Mrs. Harris was born on March 30, 1942, in Caldwell County, and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Mildred retired from Square D. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Candler.
Her parents, I.L. and Virgie Honeycutt Abernathy, as well as her sisters, Doris Case and Mary Suttles, and brother, Jack Abernathy, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughter, Alicia Lisa' Harris Rice, of Weaverville; son, Jeffrey Warren Harris, of Leicester; sister, Margaret Huntsinger, of Leicester; brothers, Eddie Abernathy, of Louisville, Ky., and Gerald Abernathy, of Birmingham, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Bethesda Baptist Church, Candler, with the Revs. Furman Wilson and C.W. Anthony officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
