Jerry Slaughter Potts, 88, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2018 in Mapleton UT. She was born on November 4,1929 in SLC, UT to Edward and L. Blanche Greenwell Slaughter. Jerry graduated from East High School in 1947 and the University of Utah in 1951 with a B.S. in Speech Therapy and Audiology. Jerry married Keith Sherman Potts in the SLC Temple on August 21,1952. In 1953, Keith and Jerry moved to Pittsburgh PA where they raised their family. Jerry was very active the LDS Church. Jerry and her husband were presidents of the youth program in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission 1961-69. They established the pilot program for Youth Conferences for the LDS Church. Jerry also organized and directed the LDS Church's Family History Library in Western PA from 1982-99. For 10+ years, she taught early morning Seminary.
Jerry loved reading, gardening, painting, studying the gospel, but most of all she loved her family. After being in Pittsburgh for 61 years, Jerry and Keith moved back "home" to be closer to family.
Jerry is survived by her children: Ann, Richard (Lori), Leslie Mulholland (Shawn), Mary Smith (Gillan); 12 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by: her husband Keith; son, William Keith; and her parents and 5 siblings.
Funeral services to be held on Saturday August 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Harvest Park LDS Chapel 1068 So. 1600 W., Hwy 89, Mapleton UT 84664. A viewing is scheduled an hour prior to the funeral at the Harvest Park Chapel. Internment is at the SLC Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuaries.com.
