Larry Norris Alvin was born in Savannah, Georgia born under the union of Leo and Henrietta Alvin on March 5, 1952. He was known for being a gentleman, a scholar, a citizen of the world and a man of quiet strength. He was a graduate of Savannah High School Class of 1970. After his formal education Larry served as a proud member of the United States Navy for several years. Larry later settled in Marietta, Georgia where he worked for the Walker School.
Larry is survived by his six loving children Joshua Alvin, Lara Alvin Maurice Boney (Lena), Tundra Barnes (Sheldon), Allen Jones (Melissa) and Sade Smith. Six grandchildren, Malachi Jones, Felicity Jones, Serenity Jones, Sheldon Barnes III, Tìmì Barnes, Maurice Boney III, Five Siblings Egbert Smith (Verna), Geraldine Grant (Robert) Annette Salter (Reese), Michael Bates and Felicia Bates and one beloved uncle Henry Carswell (Nonnie Mae). and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at The Temple of Glory Community Church 1105 Stiles Ave. Savannah, GA Pastor Tyrone Washington, Eulogist.
Interment~ Bonaventure Cemetery (Greenwich Section) with Military Honors.
