FORMER UNION LADY DIED IN MERIDIAN
—————
Mrs. Mary Jane Collins, wife of Rev. W. L. Colins [sic], late of Union but now of Meridian, died at her home Friday evening, april 19th, after long suffering which she bore with great Christian fortitude.
Funeral services were held at Mt. Zion Church, near Union, Sunday with Rev. Jones, Pastor of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Meridian, in charge. Rev. G. O. Parker of Union, Rev. Eugene Stevens of Meridian, Judge Hardy Stone of Meridian and Rev. F. F. Gardner of Union, Route 4, spoke in glowing terms of the life of the deceased, praising her as a devoted Christian wife and mother, a loyal friends and neighbor and a faithful member of the Baptist Church. Mrs. G. W. Todd and Mrs. G. O. Parker of Union sang "Face to Face," with Mrs. W. N. McLemore, organist.
The body was laid to rest in Rock Branch cemetery. Friends of the Collins family came for far and near to pay their respects to the memory of Mrs. Collins, and many were the beautiful flowers laid upon the grave.
Mrs. Collins, before her marriage was a Cleveland, a member of a family of ten brothers and four sisters. One brother, Mr. Frank Cleveland, and one sister, Mrs. S. A. Alexander, survive her. She was first married to Mr. Miller and to this union were born three children, two of whom have preceded her to the grave.
She leaves a grief stricken husband and eight children; Joe Miller, Mrs. H. M. James, Mrs. Roy Edgar and Jesse Rube Collins of Union; Roy L. Collins of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; Miller Collins and Misses Ella and Clara Collins of Meridian.....
