Shawn Edward Stuart, 62, of Richmond, Virginia and Salt Lake City, Utah passed from this mortal life at his home on the 4th of August, 2018. Shawn was born in Gastonia, North Carolina May 18, 1956 to Alfred Joseph Stuart and Carol Dean Lowery Stuart.

He lived most of his life in Richmond, Virginia, but toured extensively with musical theater groups including the LDS Musical Saturday’s Warrior. He acted, wrote, and even producing his own plays, Personal Fouls and A Poor Man’s Symposium. On November 9, 1974 he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On April 27, 2007 he was married to his loving wife Tetiana in a civil ceremony in Kiev, Ukraine. They were later sealed in the Washington D.C. temple. In December of 2009 Shawn and Tetiana moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they have since been stalwart members of the Russian Language branch of the LDS church, and where Shawn’s ice cream cart and shop – which served only the finest all-organic and natural ice cream – was the toast of the summer.

In Fall of 2016 Sean began to document his memoirs and conversion story. Under the pen name Sean Edward Stewart he published his book, “Beyond the Pale and Pall of Earthly Reason – Making the Attempt to Ask God” just before he was diagnosed with esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Our beloved husband, brother, son, uncle, and faithful friend is survived by his wife Tetiana, mother Carol, sister Betsy (Keith) Dishman, brother A.J., nephews Zachary, Jacob and Christopher, and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS church on 142 West 200 North in Salt Lake City, Utah at 2:00 p.m., August 8th, 2018. Friends are welcome to visit with family from 1:00-1:45 p.m. before the service. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Taylorsville Cemetery, 1635 W 4535 S in Taylorsville. In lieu of flowers or cards, Shawn would want people to read his book and consider its message. The book is available on amazon.com and bit.ly/stuart-s-book.
