Hiram was the son of James Farley and Elmira E. Reynolds of Dennysvllle He resided his entire life in Dennysville.

He married Meribah/Meribeth/MaryBeth H. Carter the daughter of Samuel Carter and Sarah Cox of Pembroke Maine on Sept 29, 1866. Town records give her name as Mrs Maribah Leighton of Dennysville. She was the widow of William Laughton who died in 1860 and she had six Laughton children.

In 1870 Hiram was 24, a laborer and wife Marybeth was 55 with children Mary M age 4 and Hyram M born the previous year. Also rsiding with them was her son Irving B. Laughton age 12.

In 1880 Hiram and Marybeth had children Mary M age 14, Hiram M age 10 and Eliza M. age 9 and residing with them was Marybeth's son Irving B. Laughton age 22.

Hiram was a farmer and a private serving
with the 1st Heavy Artillery Maine Volunteers, Co K. He enlisted Jan 2, 1864 and was discharged for disability May 5, 1865. He was enumerated in the 1890 Pensioners Census which indicates he was totally disabled and blind in one eye, disability of 26 yrs. His widow's benefit was paid to Mae J. Farley.

In the 1900 census, still in Dennysville, Hiram and Maryetta are living with their son Hiram.

She died 1908 at age 84 and Hiram married Mary Jane Bennett daughter of Nathaniel Bennett on June 9, 1909. Marriage record gives name as Mrs Mary J Batson. She was the widow and 2nd wife of Edward C. Batson who died 1906.

Hiram died of chronic myocarditis. Maine Veteran's Cemetery records indicates an upright stone and GAR marker.
