“Gene” William E. Keener age 78 of Lenoir City passed away Monday morning August 6, 2018 at his home.

He attended Silver Ridge Baptist Church. He was formerly a deacon of Shady Grove Baptist Church and currently served as cemetery trustee. Gene ran Amoco service station in Lenoir City until 1979 and served as head mechanic at Sid’s Auto Parts for several years. He later worked in construction until his retirement.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Donna R. Keener; parents, Glen and Nixola Keener; brothers, Homer and Nathan Keener and his sister GlynnAnn Keener Thomas; daughter-in-law Becky Keener and brother-in-law Gordon Wells.

Survived by his daughter and care giver Kimberly Keener; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kathy Keener, Greg Keener all of Lenoir City; grandchildren, special grandson Eddy, Marcus, Anthony, Chris and Jessica; great-grandchild, Wyatt; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ruth and Edmond Miller; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special “thank you” to Dennis and Vicki Lanham and several other friends for their love and support.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Click Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Patterson and Mr. Gary Keener officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home and proceed to Shady Grove Cemetery for graveside services at 11:00 a.m.
