Ralph was the son of Herbert Lester Cole and Vera Matilda (Schultz) Cole. He graduated from Libbey High School along with his future wife, Jane Marcille Cole, in 1942. They married December 4, 1943; Marcy preceded him in death after sharing 67 years of marriage.

Ralph attended Denison University before and after serving in the US Army Air Force. He completed a Bachelor's Degree at The University of Toledo in 1949 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in 1952. He practiced dentistry in both Toledo and Sylvania, OH for over 50 years.

In life, Ralph was passionate about dentistry, learning, music, and golfing at Sylvania Country Club. He also was a very talented musician.

Ralph passed away at his home, Browning Masonic Community (Pathways), Waterville, OH. He was survived by his daughters, Chris Simmons, Cindy (Larry) Kluczynski, and Cathy Rysenga; grandchildren, Sandi (Gordon) Egbert, Jill Kluczynski, Katie Rosales, Ryan (Amanda) Kluczynski, Kenny (Tonya) Kluczynski, and Dustin (Pilar) Hudson; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH, on August 10th, followed immediately by the funeral service.
