Major League Baseball Player. Was a promising prospect for the Washington Senators in the late 30's, and pitched in a total of 5 games for them in 1939-1940. He was then drafted into the United States Army in 1941, and served during the entire conflict. He was a member of the 29th Infantry Division that made the second invasion wave at Normandy on June 6, 1944. He was severely wounded in his pitching arm after hitting the beach, and was sent home to recuperate with a Purple Heart. After his discharge he tried to return to his old team, but his wound effectively ended his baseball career, and the Senators declined to give him a try out.
