Mr. Jeremy Cortez Wright was born to Ms. Sharon Wright and the late Mr. Jeffery Gilbert on May 15, 1990 in Thomaston, Upson County Georgia. His commitment to Christ began at an early age when he joined the Pleasant Grove Church under the leadership of his uncle, Rev. Rickey Wright.

His early education was in the public schools of Thomaston-Upson County System. He graduated with the Class of 2008. After high school he attended Albany State College for two years. Jeremy had a beautiful spirit, and he made friends in high school and college that lasted throughout his lifetime.

Jeremy began his love for music in his mother’s womb. He would tap his feet to the beat of any music he heard. He began playing at the age of three and for churches at the age of six. Churches he played for included Pine Chapel Baptist Church, True Mt. Temple Baptist Church, New Lebanon Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Albany State College, Victorious Life, James Temple and finally, James Temple Miracle Center. His greatest love was playing for his uncle, Rev. Rickey Wright.

Jeremy’s gifted talent allowed him many opportunities in the music industry. He was the first person at Albany State to make drum line as a freshman. He was the only unsigned artist to perform at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vega, NV, and he produced the nationwide hit, “Gone Bad” by international artist, Brudda Hait.

Jeremy served as a musician for Sunday’s Best, “Josh Rogers”, James Fortune, Tamela Mann, the gospel Keynotes, Tim Rogers and the Fellas, Totally 4 Him and many other gospel artist, Music always seemed to soothe his soul; he ate, drank and slept music. He loved helping people and would do whatever it took to put a smile on your face. He was sure to brighten your day. Jeremy loved going to church, spending time with his family, mentoring other musicians, and fishing with his father, brother and his best friend, Lamond.

He was preceded in death by: his biological father, Mr. Jeffery Gilbert; grandparents, Rev. Willie “Bill” Wright and Mrs. Inell Wright, Mr. Printis McCrary and Mr. Grady Myers: aunt, , Ms. Stephanie Gilbert; and uncle, Mr. Julian Jerome Wright.

On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 the Lord called him home. His spirit took flight and went home to be with the Heavenly Father. His departure has saddened the hearts of his family and friends but his memory will live on forever in their hearts.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Mr. Darryl and Sharon King of Milledgeville, GA, and one brother, Mr. Damion (Samantha) King of Honolulu, HI. Jeremy was blessed to have an extraordinary uncle, aunt cousin who were also his parents, and sister, Rev. Rickey, Millicent Wright, and Ms. Jessica Wright of Thomaston, GA. Other aunts and uncles include, Mr. Donnie Wright, Mrs. Peggy (Billy) Risper, Ms. Gladys King, Mr. Issac D. King, Mr. Donovan King, Mr. Johnathan McCrary all of Thomaston, GA, Ms. Angela Trice and Ms. Tammie Sullivan both of Milner, GA, Mr. Roderick Gilbert of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Michael (Renee) Thompson of FL, and Mr. Tracy (Kim) Caldwell of Griffin, GA; grandparents, Mrs. Sylvia Gilbert of Milner, GA, Mrs. Cynthia McCrary and Mr. Issac King both of Thomaston, GA: great-grandmother, Mrs. Elnora Lockhart of Thomaston, GA; goddaughter, Ms. Zariya Halbert of Warner Robins, GA; godsister, Ms. Tamia Neal of Junction City, GA; special brotherhood bond, Mr. Lamond Halbert, Mr. Anthony Riley, Mr. Brandon Ray, Mr. Jesse Easy, Mr. Dante Eady, Mr. Carlos Harvey, Mr. Michael Harvey, Mr. Mike Hunter and Mr. Chris Deigh; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends including the Caldwell, Paige and Halbert families.
