Actor. He was best known to film viewers as 'Crewman Gray' in the 1956 film "Forbidden Planet" and as 'Chico Bonell' in the 1957 film "Forty Guns." Born Robert Warren Brimmer, he was the son of big screen icon Richard Dix, who was well known for his film appearances in the 1930s and 1940s. As a youngster, he worked at a local market, delivering groceries to such celebrities as Jimmy Stewart, Jimmy Durante, and Robert Cummings. His father passed away when he was fourteen years old and his mother later remarried. He studied acting at the National Academy of Theater Arts in Pleasantville, New York and then when he was eighteen years old, signed a contract with MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer) studios in Hollywood. His first acting role came in the 1954 film "Athena." Besides "Forbidden Planet" and "Forty Guns," he went on to appear in such films as "Young Jesse James" (1960), "Deadwood '76" (1965), "Blood of Dracula's Castle" (1969), "Five Bloody Graves" (1969), and "Live and Let Die" (1973). He also appeared in numerous television series during his career such as "Richard Diamond, Private Detective," "Highway Patrol," "Death Valley Days," "Gunsmoke," and "Rawhide." His last film role was in "The Last Frankenstein", which he completed work in 2016, and was in post-production when he passed away. He passed away of respiratory failure.
