Mr. Michael Allen Wylie, 57, died Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Chester Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 10, 2018, at Chester ARP Church with Rev. Clint Davis officiating. Interment will be private on Saturday, August 11, at Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday at Chester ARP Church.
Mr. Wylie was born July 16, 1961 in Amarillo, TX. He was a proud 1984 graduate of Clemson University and a lifelong Tiger fan. Mike served as Vice President of AME, Inc. where he was employed for over 25 years. He also held a seat on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Beyond his professional contributions, Mike was known for two passions: his philanthropy for less fortunate children and their families and his love for cooking. As both a past District Deputy and Exalted Ruler for the Elks Lodge in Gaffney, SC, he organized and delivered thousands of gifts during the holidays for many years. He also barbecued and fed hundreds while fundraising for causes close to his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Byrd Wylie; two sons, Michael Benjamin Wylie and wife, Cortnie Paige Wylie of Clover and Kristopher Widener of Chester; two daughters, Mary Shaw Wylie of Darlington and Krystal Lynne Widener of Blackstock; three grandchildren, Owen, Tristan and Kamron; his father, Robert E. Wylie of Chester; one sister, Martha Wylie Shifflett and husband, Doug of Cary, NC; and a nephew, Owen Shifflett. Mr. Wylie was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Pate Wylie.
