John B. “Jack” Bowles, age 81 of Devils Lake, ND and formerly of Milton, ND passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Devils Lake Good Samaritan Center.

John B. Bowles was born March 18, 1937 in Milton, ND the son of the late Albert and Vera (Irwin) Bowles. He graduated from High School in Milton. Following his education he served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Following his discharge he returned home and was united in marriage to Laurel Laxdal on September 20, 1958 in Gardar, North Dakota. The couple lived and farmed near Milton, ND. He later worked for Cavalier County, Close Construction and Bernie Goodman Farms. Laurel passed away on Feb. 8, 2007. Jack moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake in 2016.

He was a life member of the Milton American Legion Post.

Jack is survived by his children: Julie (Fred) Allen, Walhalla, ND; Susie (Todd) Graveline, Manvel, ND; Jan (David) Haslekaas, Milton, ND; and Jason (Gina) Bowles, Hallock, MN; four grandchildren: Lauren Graveline, Jadeyn Symington, Hayes and Greta Haslekaas; his siblings: Harlan (Helen) Bowles, Milton, ND; Helen (Bob) Torrance, Milton, ND; and Margaret Ekdahl, Red Wing, MN; family friend, Lisa Buchwietz, Langdon, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Angela Symington.

Memorial services will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg, ND. Friends may call at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Milton American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
