Opal Walker, 98, of Gilbert, departed this life on Saturday, August 4, 2018, from Good Sheppard Nursing Home in Phelps, KY. Opal was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born July 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lindale James Bays (1895-1930) and Texie Iona Tincher-Bays (1896-1958). In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Walker (Deceased); and a half brother, Homer Perry (1914-1979).
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Opal include her three children, Karen Walker-Blankenship & husband Billy Blankenship of Gilbert, Lindale Edward Walker (1941-2020) & wife Betty Wilkins-Walker of Mt. Jackson, VA, and George Walker & wife Pat Walker of Charlottesville, VA; her grandchildren, Billy Ray Blankenship, Chad Blankenship, Craig Walker, Tracey Walker, Terena Hale, and Kelly Smith; eleven great-grandchildren; one special friend, Ruby Browning of Tamcliffe; and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Justice Community Church from 6:00 to 9:00 pm where a funeral service will commence at 7:00 pm with Rev. Clifford Rawls officiating. A graveside service will commence on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Highland Memory Gardens at Pecks Mill.
