Gladys Ruth (Baggs) Edwards, of Carrollton, Missouri, formerly of Bogard, Missouri, peacefully passed away with family by her side at 10:45 a.m., Monday morning, August 6, 2018, at Carroll House in Carrollton, Missouri.

Gladys lived faithfully for 92 years, 11 months, and 12 days.

It was a Tuesday on the 25th day of August 1925, in the family home in the Bowdry area near Carrollton, Missouri, that the Lord blessed the home of Earl and Carrie Estle (Allen) Baggs with a daughter and they named her Gladys Ruth. She attended Austin Grade School and graduated in 1943 from Bogard High School. It was during this time that she had met her only true love and a best friend for life.
On April 2, 1946, in the Bogard Methodist parsonage, she became the wife of Albert Eugene Edwards, and to this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Earlene, and a son, Kenneth. Gladys and Albert's personalities complimented the other, and they equally shared household duties with both, laughter and tears. They shared 69 years of marriage with a few days of sorrow, yet, most days of contentment and building happy memories to last a lifetime. Albert sadly preceded her in death on July 9, 2015. Gladys was first a homemaker and mother, remaining in the home with her children until they were both in grade school feeling it essential to be the guidance to her children. During World War II, Gladys worked at the Sunflower Ordnance Ammunition Plant in Desoto, Kansas, and felt it was an honor to assist with the provisions to our military with the armament needed to end this war. Gladys was merrily known as the Avon Lady for 48 years selling and delivering cosmetics and perfumes to many households in Carroll County. She loved providing this service, acquiring friendships and gathering new connections and even after retirement she was still respectively titled the "Avon Lady." During her position with Avon, she was employed part-time alongside her daughter at the Public Water Supply District #1 of Carroll County providing any administrative needs. She was a member of the Maple Grove Merry Mixers. A meeting was held monthly with a group of ladies sharing homemaking skills such as canning vegetables, quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and flower and vegetable gardening. Gladys loved all these skills and practiced one or more daily. She was a fabulous cook and loved to host the family holiday meals. She and Albert sold their farm in Bogard in 1995, moving closer to town and purchasing a one-story home in Carrollton. She was baptized as a child at the Rockhill Church of Christ and became a member of the Coloma Baptist Church in 1952. She was a faithful and loyal servant to the Lord.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Earlene Martin and her husband David of Bogard, Missouri; a son, Kenneth Eugene Edwards of Pompano Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Tammy Ahnefeld (Joe) of Carrollton; Steven Martin (Kelley) of Bloomington, Indiana; Eric Martin (Jennifer) of Columbia; Kathryn Edwards of Kearney; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ahnefeld, and Kyle Ahnefeld, both of Norborne; Mariah Ahnefeld of Carrollton; Wyatt Martin and Shelby Martin both of Bloomington, Indiana; Adam Trachsel, Jacob Trachsel, and Alyssa Trachsel all three of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Albert Eugene; a precious grandson that was gone too soon, Anthony Isom Edwards; two brothers, Harold Baggs and Cecil Baggs.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the Coloma Baptist Church, Bogard, Missouri with Pastor Richard Colliver officiating.

A visitation for family and friends to gather will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Foster Funeral Chapels, Carrollton, Missouri.

After the services, we will leave in procession to Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri, where Gladys will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved Albert.

Pallbearers will be David Martin, Steven Martin, Eric Martin, Nicholas Ahnefeld, Joe Ahnefeld, and Kyle Ahnefeld.
