Peggy D. Griffith, 67, of Grants Pass died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Private family services will be held. Perl Funeral Home in Medford is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501.

Griffith was born on April 1, 1934, in Richardson County, Neb., and attended school in Omaha, Neb. She lived in California for eight years and moved to Oregon in 1964. In March 1971, she married Lonnie R. Griffith, who survives. For 14 years she worked at the former Josephine Memorial Hospital (now Three Rivers Community Hospital's Dimmick campus). She went on to work for Josephine County Title for 15 years and retired last year.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, listening to music and visiting with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her flower gardens which will be featured in the Grants Pass Garden Show in June.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Wendy Thompson of Great Falls, Mont.; three sons, Henry Shepherd of Ferndale, Wash., Leslie Ackerman of Petaluma, Calif., and Ron Ackerman of Grants Pass; a stepson, Ken Griffith of Latrove, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Robyn Hestad of Cherry Valley, Mass.; three sisters, Dixie Myers of Medford and Marilyn Knowlton and Maxine Ashton, both of Omaha, Neb.; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Erica Towne, died before her.
