Ron Coleman, 71, passed too soon, August 5, 2018, four months after a glioblastoma tumor.

Ron was born in Yuma, Arizona, to Violet and Charles Coleman on July 15, 1947. After attending San Mateo Junior High School and playing football, he was recruited by Chico State to play football and participate in track and field events. Ron once held the Chico State record for pole vaulting.

Ron became an active member of the alumni program at Chico State, financially supporting its football, track, and golf programs. After playing both football and track at Chico State, Ron was head track and cross country coach while teaching physical education for several years at Butte College.

Ron transitioned to becoming a contractor and builder throughout the North State. Mission Ranch was one of Ron’s pride and joy developments.

Golf was his passion, and Butte Creek Country Club was his favorite course. Ron was president of El Rancho Chico Golf Club four times and a board member of the Bidwell Park Junior Golf Association. In recent years, Ron spent winters in his second home in Arizona. Hawaii and Mexico became his favorite destinations, but he would laugh and say his favorite local vacation was to Tinseltown to watch every current movie followed by a Great Harvest meal. If you own Tinseltown or Captain Morgan stock, Ron would tell you to sell without his business!

Ron is survived by his sister, Vickie Thomas, brother, Gary Coleman, former wife, Pam, step daughter Amy, and of course his constant companion Golden Retriever, Jazz.

Ron wanted to acknowledge the joy and friendship of his special friends, Barbie, Billy, Greg, Bob O, Tammi, Tony, Joan, Richard, Eric, his entire BCCC golf gang, and his hunting buddies.

A memorial service will be held at Brusie Funeral Home at 626 Broadway Street at 10:00am on Friday, August 10th.
