Mass of Christian Burial for Fred Price will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches, The Reverend Monsignor James E. Young, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Moral Cemetery in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Laird Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial for Fred Price will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches, The Reverend Monsignor James E. Young, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Moral Cemetery in Nacogdoches. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Laird Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. Frederick C. “Fred” Price, 90, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1927 in Ashland, Pa., son of Edwin W. Price Sr. and Ruth W. Strohmeier. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1945, served in the U.S. Army, then earned a B.S.Ch.E. from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1951. In 1960, he moved to Cedar Grove, NJ, and was a staff writer and managing editor for Chemical Engineering magazine in New York. In 1975, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he met and married Wilma Pryblek (nee Cortines) on May 6, 1978. After their retirement, they moved to Nacogdoches. He was an avid distance runner, including the Boston, New York, Houston and Honolulu Marathons. He competed in Masters races into his early 80s, with many first place finishes in his age group. During his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher in the Nacogdoches Independent School District and volunteered at Nacogdoches Library. He was a lector at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches. He was predeceased by his son, Eric Price, and his brother Edwin W. Price, Jr. He is survived by his widow; his sons Randy Price, New York City; Darren (Joanna) Price, Mountain View, Calif.; and Jason Price, Orlando, Fla.; his first wife, Dorothy Price (nee Williams), Cedar Grove, NJ, his five nephews and niece.
