Fort Bend Herald, August 8, 2018:

Lawrence Schmidt of Richmond, Texas was born on June 12, 1931 to August and Minnie Schmidt in Beasley, Texas. He was baptized and confirmed in Friedens United Church of Christ in Beasley, Texas. He attended school in Beasley and Rosenberg, Texas.

He was married to Ella Mae Richter on January 16, 1951. He was in the military service during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Texas Highway Department after working there for 33 years. After leaving the Highway Department he owned and managed a Timber Harvesting business in East Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Minnie Schmidt, and infant son, Gordon Lee Schmidt.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae; children, Cynthia Walker and husband, Robert; son, Randy Schmidt and wife, JoAnn; and son, Bradley Schmidt; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; along with extended family and friends.

In his younger age he liked to go camping, fishing and hunting. He also liked to travel and go to the Casinos and go dancing.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2018, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial with military honors to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ in Rosenberg.
