Katherine McHann Connelly, 90, of Tucson, AZ passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018.

Beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she is survived by her children John W. (Cheryl) Connelly of Blackfoot, ID, David Connelly of Savannah, GA, Joanne Connelly Suda (Robert) of Fairfax, VA and Jeanne Maxwell (Ryan) of Anchorage, AK. She is also survived by one brother, James McHann of Punta Gorda, FL, 10 cherished grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Connelly and her daughter Cynthia Bass.

Kathy was born in New Milford, CT, the daughter of Katherine Kelly McHann and William McHann. After her marriage, she moved to Naugatuck, CT and then on to Bethlehem, CT where she raised a family while working in the town drugstore and bank. In 1987, following the death of her husband, she moved to Tucson and started a new life and career, reluctantly retiring at the age of 79.

Blessed with the gift of gab, Kathy was a friend to all that knew her. Her interests were many, to include knitting, crochet, crosswords and puzzles. Her love for NASCAR racing was second only to her love for animals, and she spent the last many years walking through her neighborhood offering treats to the local pets.
She will be deeply missed by her extended community of family and friends and the world is a bit dimmer in her absence.

Calling hours are 5-8 pm on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church/Church of the Nativity, 48 East St., Bethlehem, CT. Burial to follow in Bethlehem cemetery.

A fighter all her life, Kathy was a two-time cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Katherine Connelly to support cancer research and patient care at: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via http://www.dana-farber.org/gift.
