The family eventually moved to Santa Clara where Julius graduated from Sunnyvale High School in 1960. While at Sunnyvale High School, he participated in Track all four years but found his love for cars when he took Auto Shop. He learned how to repair motors and build fast cars that he raced at the Fremont Drag Strip and street raced on Monterey Highway. He then joined a car club called the “Wheelin Saints”.
Julius soon met his beautiful wife, Patricia, and they were married in September 1960. They had two children: Renee and Julius, Jr. Their family grew to include 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Julius worked for Ford Motor Co. for about eight years and moved on to 7-Up Bottling Company where he retired in 1994.
In his downtime, Julius enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and four wheeling. He loved Hot Rods and Car shows. Julius owned approximately 30 cars over his lifetime, most of which were fast cars!
Julius loved parties and entertaining and was known for his famous Margaritas and Gin and Tonics.
Julius’ favorite foods were, Patricia’s, fried chicken and potato salad as well as her pot roast. He also loved his mom’s (Grandma Lula’s) navy beans and cornbread and her pecan pies and cobblers. He loved drinking Pepsi to go with his homemade popcorn or Pat’s spaghetti.
Julius and his wife loved to travel. Their favorite vacations spots were Hawaii, Mexico and Florida. They also traveled cross-country in their motorhome to Texas, North Dakota and Kentucky to name a few states. During their marriage, they lived in San Jose and Scotts Valley and eventually settled in Seligman, Arizona in 2000.
Our dad was a loyal family man and a hard worker and always provided for his family. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents, Oather and Lula, and is survived by his brother, Oliver Marr, as well as his children, grandchildren and great grandson. He will truly be missed.
