Donna L Wheeler, age 84, of Ashland, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, at her residence. She was born November 29, 1933, in Polar, WI, the daughter of Elden and Delores (Kirsch) Shipley Sr.
On December 20, 1952, she married Kenneth R Wheeler, in Antigo.
She was a member of the Christian motorcycle club for 43 years. She worked on a potato farm, mink farm, and peeling aspen. She also worked in several nursing homes and at Trinity Hospital. In later years, she operated a daycare and foster home and worked in the family business. With her husband, she also pastored and ministered in several churches. Donna enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, Ashland, WI; six children, Judith Andrews, Ashland, WI, Ruth Houle, Aurora, IL, Rhoda (Jeff) Nicholson, Mellen, WI, Rachel (Duane) Kontny, Glidden, WI, Kenneth (April) Wheeler, Taylors, SC, and Rebecca Neibauer, Horicon, WI; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elden Shipley Jr.; four sisters, Lavon Darling, Delores (Larry) Wickersheim, Debbie Gascons, and Linda Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; a great-grandson, Ian Allen Nicholson; a brother, Jerry Shipley; and sisters, Laura Wallace, Amaryllis Temple, and Gail Smallwood.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Assembly of God Church, in Ashland, with Pastor Julie Burmeister officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service on Friday, August 3, 2018. Interment will take place at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Marengo.
