Cindy M. Thompson, 65, of North Vernon passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at her residence.

Born July 14, 1953, at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois, Cindy was the daughter of the late Dale Edward and Helen Marie Hamilton Thompson. She married Barbara Edman November 15, 2014, in North Vernon and she survives.

Cindy was a 1971 graduate in Defiance, Ohio and served in the U.S. Navy from August 9, 1974 until her retirement on February 28, 1995, she then went to work for Metaldyne (Mascotech) as a quality manager for 20 years. Cindy enjoyed all sports, she coached softball while in the Navy, was an Indianapolis Fever basketball fan, enjoyed NASCAR and loved her family, God and country.

Surviving with her wife, Barbara Edman are brother, Martin E. Thompson and his wife Donna of Kentucky; sister, Paula Benton and her husband, Bob of Oregon, Ohio; sister-in-law, Sheila Thompson of Illinois; 10 nieces, 11 nephews, 10 great-nieces and 12 great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Brian Thompson.

A funeral service for Cindy will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites
