She was born on October 2, 1920 in New Orleans, where she lived for many years and reared her family.
She has lived in Thibodaux, LA, for the past 20 years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, William Herbert Harris Jr., MD, her parents, Locey Douglas Smith and Ethel Mae Butler Smith, her sister, Marion Smith Buchmann, as well as her daughters, Edith Catherine Harris and Virginia Harris Delarosa.
She is survived by her children, William Herbert Harris III (Amelie), Douglas Bernard Harris, MD (Judy), Stephen Paul Harris, MD (Patti), Thomas Joseph Harris, and Lynne Elizabeth Harris, as well as 17 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
She graduated from McMain High School and from Newcomb College, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Pi sorority.
Funeral Mass at 10 am on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on the campus of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
Interment at Metairie Cemetery in Metairie, Louisiana.
