Daughter of Merwyn and Josephine Margaret (Finnane) Martin. She grew up in Janesville, graduating from Janesville High School in 1943, and had lived in Tomah and Beloit. Mary married Wilmer T. Day and he preceded her in death in October of 1951. She married Thomas F. Skelly on Nov. 19, 1955, in Janesville and he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1985. She had been employed by JJ Smith Jewelers and for Catholic Family Life Insurance. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Thomas, Altar Society, and was active at Beloit Catholic High School and athletic functions.
Mary is survived by her 5 children: Karyn Greenwood of Tomah, Deanna Winchell of Madison,
Brian Day of Fontana, KS, Susan (Eliot) Stein of Beloit and Thomas (Kathleen) Skelly of Huntington, IN;11 grandchildren: Terry, Kelly, Shelly, Tim, Nancy, Kara, Eric, Ryan, Amy, Megan and Katie; 5 great grandchildren: Maggy, Elizabeth, John, Christine and Luke; 2 sisters, Alice Morehart of Milton and Patricia Martin of Rockford, IL; brother, James (Beth) Martin of Three Lakes, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; and 2 sisters, Betty Bullis and Joan McDonald.
