Mr. L.H. Byers, 79, of 1315 Division, died Thursday at 1 a.m. at a local hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Byars and Rev. Ray Turner officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

A long-time Greenville resident, he was born August 10, 1891 in Navarro County. His parents were J.W. and Caroline Byers. He was married to Lillie Azilee Hefner on Nov. 29, 1914.

Mr. Byars (sic) was a charter member of Lamar Baptist Church were (sic) he served as Sunday School superintendant (sic) and teacher. He was a retired contractor.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1960 and a son, John S. Byers in 1969.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Claude Moore of Ft. Worth and Mrs. R.A. Graham, Jr., of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Winnie Baldwin of Richardson, three brothers, Joe Byars, Earnest Byars and Fred Byars all of California, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Byars brother, Joe Byars and seven of the grand children, John Grisham, Bobby Moore, Raney Granham (sic) III, Don Walker, John Grahm (sic) and Kent Grahm (sic) will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be M.A. Gafford, Leon Ripley, V.L. Clark, and L.S. Young.
