He was born April 27, 1955 in San Francisco, California to LeRoy Nixon and Edith June Foster Nixon.

He married Jan Gubler September 15, 1984 in the St. George LDS Temple.

He was raised in northern Utah but claimed Alaska as his home.

He lived in Fairbanks for a few years after his first marriage.

Mike was an avid hiker in his younger years and knows every trail of Zion National Park.

He loved and excelled in photography and took many pictures while hiking.

Some of his pictures have been published in various magazines and brochures.

He loved all kinds of music.

If the house wasn't shaking from the volume, "so you could feel the music", it wasn't loud enough.

Mike also loved the out doors and camping.

The annual family vacation, for many years, was spent in the Grand Canyon.

Over the years Mike served his church in many capacities.

Some of his callings were Counselor in the Elders Quorum, and several years ago when there were Ward Seventies Quorums he served as one of the Seventies Presidents in the Stake.

He especially loved teaching missionary training courses and going on splits with missionaries.

His most recent calling was Ward Financial Clerk.

Michael enjoyed spending time with his family.

He especially looked forward to the time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Jan, his children; Elisha (Erik) Dupper, Troy Nixon, Shaleese (Braden)Ray, and ten grandchildren.
