Lois Mullins married Stephen Langford July 22, 1807 in Lincoln Co., KY. Stephen Langford was considerably older than Lois and had at least two previous wives/girlfriends prior to marrying Lois. It is believed that he was born in 1746 in Caroline, VA and died after the 1810 census in Rockcastle, KY (between Feb - May 1811). Lois and Stephen Langford had one son named Henry S. Langford b. abt 1808. Lois Mullins appears on an 1820 census not far from David Owen who was married to her older sister Winifred Mullins Owen. After this 1820 census, it is not known if Lois Mullins Langford remarried or if she passed away shortly thereafter. Her husband Stephen assisted families in their travels through the Cumberland Gap to KY and this may be how Lois Mullins and Stephen Langford met, but they may have already been acquainted as the Langford family had ties to her mother Mary Polly Terry Mullin's family and possibly Henry Mullins as well in Pittsylvania, VA and North Carolina before emigrating to Wilkes, NC in 1784 - about the time that Lois Mullins was born. Many believe that Stephen Langford was killed by one of the Harpe brothers in 1798, but it was likely his brother Thomas Langford who was murdered. Stephen Langford created Langford's Station to help protect newly arrived settlers in 1792. On June 17, 1796 - Langford, Valentine Harmon, and William Henderson purchased 2000 acres called the "Barbour Survey" which included most of present day Mt. Vernon. Stephen Langford and Walker Langford, his brother, were closely connected to the Warren family as well as the Mullins families.
