She was born one of 13 children on October 3, 1922 in Spring Hill, Arkansas to Malachi C. and Carrie Verdel (Rider) Burns.
She married William Harold McKinney on March 23, 1949 in Littlefield, TX. She and Harold moved to Winters in 2013 to be closer to their daughter.
Leslie is preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her loving husbandof 69 years, Harold of Winters; her daughter, Debbie Ballard and husband, Steven of Winters; and her son, Phill McKinney and wife, Arlene of Waco; her grandchildren, Mac McKinney, Betsy Alan, Christy McKinney all of Waco, Kris Ballard of Abilene, Kevin Ballard of Winters; 5 great grandchildren, Scott Allen, Tasha McKinney, Tiffany Allen, Koty McKinney, Lilliana Ferrara and numerous great-great grandchildren also survive. She also leaves behind, her best friend, her dog, Gidget.
Leslie was a loving Christian woman, who deeply loved her family. She loved to bake pecan pies and other delicious foods for her family. Her devotion to God was undying. Her last words on this earth were “Thank you Father”.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Democrat Cemetery east of Zephyr, TX.
