Laura Ineta “Neta” Forsythe Smitherman was born October 22, 1921 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, to Charles Tolliver and Mary Canelia Ballance Forsythe. She attended schools in Oklahoma. Neta was working at the Brown Shipyard in the blueprint department when she met and married Cleo Smitherman in 1943 and they celebrated 42 years of marriage. Neta loved her Lord and family above all else as a member of the Calvert Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Edward and Johnny Forsythe, and sister, Katy Perry.
