Cheryl L. Griffin, 53, went peacefully to be with the Lord, July 8, 2006, after losing a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born to Kenneth and Cecelia Oxenrider on April 15, 1953, in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

She worked as a care partner at Sentara Leigh for over ten years, where she made many close friends who she loved working with.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Cecelia Oxenrider; husband, Buster, her four children, Justin, Ashley, Kris and Cortney; her sister, Sandy and her husband Scott; her sister, Susan and her fiancé Mick, and their families. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Oxenrider, and several other relatives.

She was a devoted mother to her children and in her spare time she enjoyed family get togethers, taking care of plants, shopping and baking. A special thanks to the many people who have helped us through this difficult time.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel with Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating. The burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
