David M. Ragsdale, age 81, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2018 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs Florida surrounded by his family. Dave was born in Madison, WI on May 27, 1937. He grew up in Monona and attended Wisconsin High School in Madison. Dave graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1958 with a degree in Geology after which he joined the Army for a two-year stint. Dave returned to UW Madison where he received his accounting degree in 1962. He met the love of his life, Jean Ann Ragsdale, on New Year’s Eve in 1966 and married her on September 10th the same year! They spent most of their married life in the Madison area before moving to Florida full time in 2014. Dave cherished her until his last breath. They had 52 wonderful years of marriage.

Dave was a practicing CPA in Madison for over 50 years. He was a partner with the CPA firm Ragsdale, Spitz, and Reuschlein. Dave was committed to his work and extremely dedicated to his clients. Many of which became lifelong friends.

Dave will always be remembered as a caring, loving and devoted husband, Dad, Grandpa, family man and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years Jean Ann (née Roy) Ragsdale; son, Todd (Mary Beth) Ragsdale; grandchildren, Allison and Cole; and brother-in-law, Paul (Debbie) Roy. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie; his brother, Richard; his sisters, Susan Puariea and Jane Henkel; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Barton.

A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced.

The Ragsdale family would like to extend their gratitude for the support given by friends and family and the wonderful care from the staff at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hope Hospice, www.hopehospice.org.
