PVT 2nd Class Jeremy J. Wells, age 19, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away in a tragic accident on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 while serving our country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Smith; father and step-mother, Jeremiah (Jessica) Wells; sisters, Kylie Marie Wells (Christopher Robinson) Kenzie Wells, and Alexis Wells; brothers, Kaleb Wells and Dylan Wells; niece, Harmony Robinson; nephew, Gauge Robinson; grandparents, J.C. Gill, Frances Gill, Marsha Castaneda, and Buddy Castaneda and his girlfriend, Michelle "Gabbi" Melendez Pinto. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Frances K. Gill.

Jeremy was born in Dunwoody, GA, was raised in Gwinnett County and lived his life throughout the state of Georgia. He attended Central Gwinnett High School and was a 2017 graduate of Adairsville High School. Jeremy joined the U.S. Army in 2017 where he graduated AIT school on June 25, 2018 with distinguished honors. He was currently stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. He enjoyed art, playing guitar, poetry, but especially spending time with his brothers and sisters. Jeremy will be forever remembered for his love of life and his caring and compassionate nature.

From the AJC: A U.S. soldier from Adairsville died in a training incident at Fort Campbell, Ky., on Wednesday, the U.S. Army confirmed in a press release.

Pvt. 2nd Class Jeremy J. Wells, 19, was an aircraft electrician in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, and he joined the U.S. Army in 2017, the release said.

Wells was conducting weapons training at a small-arms range on Fort Campbell at the time of the incident, the release said. The incident and how he was wounded were not provided.

He was medically evacuated to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Fort Campbell where he died of his wounds, the release said. No other soldiers were injured. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

"101st Combat Aviation Brigade has lost an incredible member of the Destiny family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of this Soldier," Lt. Col. Cayton Johnson, commander, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (Rear), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) said in the release. "We ask that everyone respect the privacy of his family as they grieve this tragic loss."
