She moved with her family to Pueblo, Colorado when she was a child.
Agnes attended the Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley, Colorado. Today, this college is known as the University of Northern Colorado. Her first teaching position was in a one room school house in Minnequa, Colorado, which is located a few miles south of Pueblo. Her students were mostly children of Italian immigrants who worked at the Minnequa steel mill operated by the Colorado Fuel and Iron Corporation. She taught at the school for two years, living in Minnequa during the week and commuting home to Pueblo on the weekends.
During the summers, she continued her education by taking classes at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She stayed with relatives while in California. Agnes later took a position teaching high school Math in Pueblo.
Agnes married Clifton Sylvester Hanson on October 14, 1927. Agnes and Clifton had two children, Barbara and Lloyd.
Clifton and Agnes moved to Los Angeles in 1929.
A devout Christian and loving Mother, Agnes went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 29, 1952. Her untimely death was a result of injuries incurred in an auto accident.
