Ms. Helen Shelton, age 93 of Antioch and formerly of Springfield, died on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville. Ms. Shelton was born on September 30, 1924 to the late Elijah Stafford and Elgie Buford Allen in Lexington, Tennessee. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John Sales.
She is a retired RN from Crestview Hospital and Meharry Hospital. Halen especially loved the Lord and reading her Bible.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Sales, Sr. of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Lavoy M. (Crystal) Sales, Sr. of Cedar Hill; daughter, Myscellent L. (Charles E.) Poole of Antioch; friends, Nerica Bowie, John Brownlow, and Cynthia Reed; grandchildren, Darlene (Damien) Turner, Myscellent Cox, Latoya Drennon (Lisa), Delaundro Sales, Troyana Sales, Ariell Sales, Jimmy Sales, Jr., Keyera Sales, Kayla Sales, Lavoy Sales, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Hannah, Missy Cox, Israel Cox; great-great-grandchild, Jamiya Hicks.
Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Roscoe H. Williams, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens.
