Olive and John married 10 April 1876, in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City and County, Utah. They had: Belinda Janetta [md Zitting]; Alice Fedelia [md1 Guthrie]; Medora "Dora" [md Saunders]; John Franklin; Robert McBride; and Alonzo Howard.

In 1900 she homesteaded on Canyon Creek, later called Farnum, Idaho, when she was about 42 years old, with the help of sons John (16) and Robert (14). Slowly her married daughters and their families joined them there.
