Born on March 2, 1923 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Karol and Lottie (Weintraub) Mann.
Author, fashion humorist and adventurer, Judith Keith retired as President of Tandem Press Publishers. Her published work includes; "I Haven't A Thing To Wear!" non-fiction, Tandem Press, hardcover, Avon , paperback; "Choices," fiction, Pocket Books; coauthor of "Jenny," Grafton Books, London and "Candy, Chocolate, Ice Cream 'N How to Lick 'Em," non-fiction, Tandem Press.
Her presentation, "I Haven't A Thing To Wear!" has entertained more than 3,000 audiences including; Mobil Oil, Exxon, Sun Oil, Xerox, Eastman Kodak, Metropolitan Life, American Bankers Association, American Society of Association Executives, the Town Hall and Celebrity Series, as well as Officers' Wives' Clubs at military bases throughout the United States. She has made more that 250 television and radio show appearances.
Judith attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and began her career as an actress. Family commitments changed her career focus and she subsequently became the Advertising and Public Relations Manager of Glamorene, Inc.; the Editor of a New Jersey daily newspaper; the Public Relations Director of a leading Philadelphia advertising agency, and the Development Director of the Pennsylvania Ballet Company.
She began her publishing ventures with "Pursestrings", one of the fist shopping newspapers. In 1968 she founded Tandem Press, which introduced nine previously unpublished women writers as well as the ABC's of Black History, a multi-media educational program with music by Lionel Hampton. This nationally acclaimed early childhood program won the ASCAP award for music five times. Tandem Press also acted as literary agent for original paperbacks by women writers including the first sales for Jayne Ann Krentz.
A health and sports enthusiast, Judith enjoyed weekends and holidays as a professional ski instructor for 15 years. She continued to enjoy skiing and was an avid adventurer participating in cycling, hiking, canoeing, and rafting. Judith has three adult children. After her daughter graduated from Yale University in 1987, Judith entered Yale in 1988, as a freshman and graduated in 1993 with a B.A. in Humanities. In March 1992 she became one of twelve Yale students chosen to journey to Russia to participate in the Yale-Moscow State University cultural exchange. In April, 1993, she became one of five participants of that experience included in the USA-Moscow space bridge televised at the United Nations.
She is survived by her three children; Jeffery Keith of East Stroudsburg, Jonathan Keith of Berkeley, CA and Elisa Fitzgerald of Lincoln, VT.
Private graveside services and burial will take place at Dalton Jewish Cemetery in Dalton.
