HAMLETT, Carson Excel, Jr. , 84, passed away July 11, 2012. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Jane Marie Overholt Hamlett of Altavista, Va.; two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Jean Sellars Hamlett; his children, Michael Overholt Hamlett, Carsanna Hamlett Reynolds and her husband, Wayne, and Johanna Hamlett Burks and her husband, Steve; three sisters, Ruby Neas Turpin, Mary Alice Dillard and Myra Hodges; a brother, Irvin Hamlett: seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Hamlett graduated from Wake Forest University in 1952 and from the University of Richmond's T. C. Williams Law School. He was an active member of the Virginia State Bar Association for 50 years and an avid golfer. He was loved and respected by family and colleagues. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. At Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
