Carmine F. Vara, Sr., 82, of Gwinn, MI passed away Monday, July 1 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, MI. He was born on March 5, 1931 in Boston, Mass. to the late Anthony and Miriam (Foster) Vara.

He married the former Marsha Galbraith in Marquette, MI on March 15, 1974.

He served as a boom operator in the United States Air Force for 26 years during his military career.
Following retirement from the Air Force he worked for Wittock Supply in Marquette, Mi.
He enjoyed photography, feeding wildlife, and being with his cats and dogs. He was very mechanical and enjoyed working on cars. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, pool, snowmobiling and water skiing. He was a member of the Gwinn VFW where he served as past commander.

Survivors include his wife Marsha of Gwinn, Mi.;
a son Carmine, Jr. (Terry) of New Berlin, WI;
a daughter Pauline Poupore of Carney, MI;
six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carmela LaRosee .

Family and friends called at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, Mi. on Sunday, July 7 from 1 p.m. until time of military rites at 2 p.m., followed by the funeral service. Deacon Tom Rivard officiated and burial followed in Bethesda Cemetery with military honors.
