Deacon Curtis Dickerson Harris, Sr. more affectionately known as “Chubby” was born to the late Mrs. Katie Maude Dickerson Harris and the late Mr. Felton Harris on February 7, 1958, in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia.

Curtis received his education in the Upson County School System. While in high school, he excelled in basketball and softball. When he reached the age of manhood he began working at the rock quarry and later was employed by Thomaston Mills. He worked his way to Plant Manager, He spent forty-three years at Thomaston Mills.

In 1976, Curtis met and fell in love with the love of his life, Ms. Znobbie Collier. On March 29, 1980, they were joined in holy matrimony. They are the proud parents of three children. Taking their vows seriously; in sickness and in health, they shared thirty-eight years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Curtis loved going to church. He was a member of Logtown Bethel Church Ministry. He served on the Usher’s Ministry and sang in the male choir. Seeing his faithfulness to the church and to God, he was ordained a deacon in 2010. He continued serving and remained faithful until his health failed. He possessed a strong faith in God and endured until the end, always trusting and believing.

Curtis served on the Chamber of Commerce for seven years, as a member of Dumas Lodge No. 225, and in the Logtown Civic Organization. In his leisure time, he loved playing golf, grilling, watching football, and joking and talking junk with his many friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Calvin “Pete” Dickerson. On Thursday, April 5, 2018, the Lord called him from labor to reward. He will be greatly missed by his family, his church family and many friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Znobbie C. Harris of Yatesville, GA; three children, Ms.Charmoin Harris (Alex) of Yatesville, GA, Mrs. Tawana (Perry) Akridge of Covington, GA, and Mr. Curtis (Angel) Harris Jr., of Douglasville, GA; seven grandchildren, Ms. Sante’Erra Rockemore, who was raised as their own, Jerrick Jordan, Alise Akridge, Kyla Harris, Kendall Harris, Jaxon Harris and Journee Terrell; one sister, Mrs. Geraldine (Jeffery) White of Macon, GA; one brother, Mr. Melvin (Janice) Dickerson of Yatesville, GA; aunts and uncles, Mrs. Mozell Kendall, Mrs. Katie Harris, Mrs. Leslie Harris, Mr. John Thomas Harris and Deacon James (Gladys) Prater, all of Thomaston, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Beverly Drake, Ms. Peggy Collier, Ms. Denise Lockett, Mr. Timothy (Ceretha) Collier, Mr. Michael (Heavenly ) Denson, Mrs. Diane (Jim) Daniel, Ms. Lisa Denson, Ms. Tawana Searcy, Ms. Nita Childs, Mr. Kenneth (Natalie ) Childs, all of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Susan (Carl) Trice of Hampton, GA, Mr. Maurice (Bennie) Collier of Tacoma, WA, Mr. Kelcey (Charva) Collier, and Ms. Bonnie Badgett, both of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Lorette (Kelvin) Cox of Yatesville, GA, Mr. Marvin (Michelle) McGill of Dallas, GA, Ms. Debra Reeves of Detroit, MI, Ms. Darcell Felipa of Baltimore , MD, and Mr. Dennis Worthy of Albany, GA; a host of nieces, and nephews, two devoted cousins, Mr. Jake Campbell and Mr. Charlie Wes Campbell; six devoted friends, Mr. Terry Hollis, Mr. Calvin Cunningham, JR. Mr. Michael Richardson, Mr. Mark Wilson, Mr. Archie Raines, and Mr. Wallace Miller, and host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
