Hans E. Regier, 85, formerly of North Newton, died Nov. 11 at Kidron Bethel Home, Newton. A memorial service was held Nov. 14 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, with Darrell Fast officiating. Graveside services were at Emmaus Cemetery, rural Whitewater. A native of Whitewater, he was a retired social worker and formerly a self-employed farmer. He worked as a social worker for seven years at the Missouri division of Mental Health and one year for a private children's home in Illinois. From 1971 to his retirement in 1974, he worked for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Survivors include one son, John Elliott; one daughter, Marian Piper of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Alfred of Whitewater; three sisters, Margaret Regier of North Newton, Minna Regier of Evanston, Ill., and Marie Janzen of Newton; and one grandson.
Spouse: Luella Smith (deceased).
