Ruby Jean Schab, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away at Blossom Creek Memory Care on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the age of 90.

She was born July 30, 1926, in Spokane, WA, to William J. and Blanche Scott Anderson.

She moved with her parents and siblings to Grandview, WA, in 1938. As a young woman, she worked at an airfield in Spokane helping to support the war effort.

She married Harold F. Schab at the First Christian Church in Yakima on March 23, 1946.

She spent the next several years as a homemaker, raising their three children. In 1956, she and Harold moved their young family to Seattle. Later, she worked in the laundry at the Fircrest School in Seattle. She and Harold moved to their Camano Island property after retiring in 1986. They worked tirelessly clearing the land for their retirement home.

Ruby’s favorite pastimes were knitting, crocheting and arts and crafts projects. For nearly 20 years, she and Harold wintered at the Caravan Oasis RV Park in Yuma, AZ. They moved to Wenatchee in 2004. She loved camping, cooking and taking long walks daily around her island home. Her greatest love was for her family and she cherished each new grandchild and great-grandchild. She was a quiet woman who was dearly loved by many and we are blessed to have had her in our lives for so many years.

Ruby is survived by her children, Dee (Jim) Moody of East Wenatchee, WA, Linda Askelson of Lynnwood, WA, and Ken Schab of East Wenatchee, WA; granddaughters, Tiffany (Corey) Wisner of Bothell, WA, Monika Askelson of Lynnwood, WA, Kristen (Bud) Poe of Portland, OR, Jessica (Eric) Dinwiddie of Marysville, WA, and Kaitlyn (Chris) Almeida of DuPont, WA; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sarah Wisner, Olympia and Elliott Poe, Easton and Zaiden Dinwiddie and Lucas and Addison Almeida; siblings, Jean Durant of Olympia, WA, and Jerry (Lynn) Anderson of Wingate, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 2014; her parents; sisters, Lorraine Anderson and Midge VanIdour; and many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend our thanks to Blossom Valley, Blossom Creek and Central Washington Hospice for their loving care of our dear mother. The immediate family will gather on her birthday to honor her memory.
