Christopher was educated in the Lamar County School System, graduating with the Booker High School Class of 1963. After graduating , he attended trade school and later attended mortuary school.
Christopher joined the Sardis Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, and he faithfully attended until his health declined. On October 28, 1967, he was united in holy matrimony to Bobby A. Rutherford, and they shared over 50 years of marriage.
One day, while still a young man, Christopher’s father placed a hammer and nails in his hands. This would commence the beginning of his lifelong career as a carpenter and electrician. He diligently learned the skills of the trade and used them to perform construction work for his clients throughout Lamar and surrounding counties. He enjoyed life and loved his family.
On Thursday, July 5, 2018, Christopher traded his tools for a set of wings. He departed his early life and transitioned to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and four brothers.
Christopher leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Bobby A. Penn of Barnesville, GA; two sons, Kenny (Shirley) Davis of Forsyth, GA and Avery Penn of Riverdale, GA; five daughters, LaDeidre (Kenneth) Wilson Sr., of Williamson, GA, Sharonda Penn and Christy Penn of Barnesville, GA, Alexandar Penn of Clarkston, GA, and Angel Penn of Jonesboro, GA; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Preston Penn, D.A.
