Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on November 22, 2012 after a brief illness. Dr. Hoffman was born in Rib Lake, Wisconsin on December 16, 1926 to Anton and Emma Mielke Hoffman. As a teenager he entered the army during World War II and quickly rose to the rank of sergeant. After the war Glen returned to Wisconsin, attended Marquette University and went on to graduate from Marquette University College of Medicine. He married the love of his life and fellow medical school student, Mary Sabo, in 1951. They moved to Dallas and completed their post graduate training at St. Paul Hospital. Glen remained on the staff at St. Paul throughout his medical career. As a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, he delivered over 6000 babies. He was adored by his many patients during his 40 year career.

Glen was a dedicated Christian and devout Catholic. He and his wife Mary were founding members of St. Rita Catholic Church. Glen served on the Board of Directors at St. Rita, was a Eucharistic minister, and was involved in founding the Christian Family Movement. Glen and Mary helped bring the Our Lady’s Rosary Makers to St. Rita. As an involved member of the Serra Club for almost 50 years, Glen served as board member and president. He was honored to serve as Knight Commander with Star in the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, knighted by order of Pope John Paul II. Glen was a member of Phi Chi Medical Fraternity and Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Honor Society.

Glen is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dr. Mary Sabo Hoffman, children Greg Hoffman and wife Patricia, daughter Kathy Bilello and husband John, Dr. Steven Hoffman and wife Leesa, son Mark Hoffman, and daughter Ann Delatour and husband John. Dr. Glen is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Mary Grace Mewett and husband Jeff, Hilary, Michael and Rebecca Hoffman, John Bilello and wife Patrice and Kerrie and husband Bob Hagest and great grandchildren Sarah Hagest and Austin and Abby Bilello. Glen is preceded in death by his sisters Beatrice Hoffman and Lorraine Niggemann and his grandson David Delatour.

As much as Glen loved his career, he enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He was dedicated to growing his beautiful cattleya orchids which almost weekly adorned the shrine of the Blessed Mother Mary at St. Rita’s church.

A visitation will be held at 6:30 pm, followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm on Monday, November 26th at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Rd. Dallas TX 75220. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 27th at St. Rita’s Catholic Church.

Glen will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May God grant him eternal happiness and may his soul rest in peace.
